Wednesday 13 on Friday 20 Wednesday 13 on Friday 20: It’s been a hot minute since horror-glam-punks the Murderdolls broke up, and frontman Wednesday 13 has been busy performing solo since then. This one is a solo gig, but the Frankenstein Drag Queen From Planet 13 is going to be performing the music of the Murderdolls, a full set of it, for the first time in a while. Should be wild. Gemini Syndrome, Infected Rain, and the Rhythm Coffin also play.We spoke to Wednesday 13 in 2018, not long after his Condolences album was release. He told us that, “Each record I can listen to, and I can tell the difference and the progression. Plus I’ve had a solid band lineup for the past three or four releases, so that’s definitely changed the writing and the way things sound compared to the first few albums, because I pretty much played everything except for the drums on the first few. It’s always evolving and we’re always experimenting, trying to do different things but keep the heart of what Wednesday 13 is. With us, it’s ...

What to watch: Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ flawed but powerful

What to watch: Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ flawed but powerful It’s being hailed as an American classic and a film for the ages, even before  most people have had a chance to see it — but does Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” live up to that hype and, more importantly, does it really need to be 3 hours and 26 minutes long? We’ll weigh in on that as well as on another big-buzz film with a sizable running length, “Anatomy of a Fall.” Also reviewed here: “The Burial” and “Nyad.”“Killers of the Flower Moon”: Martin Scorsese’s good but way-too-long adaptation of David Grann’s exceptional prize-winning nonfiction investigative book strives to be a masterpiece, but falls short of that goal. It tells a somber and sad American tale that’s based on the real-life killings of mostly female Osage Nation members in early 1920s Oklahoma and the greedy, power-mad White rancher at the center of it all, grabbing for land rights.Scorsese is one of our finest filmmakers — as is evidenced in n...

Doctors abandon a diagnosis used to justify police custody deaths. It might live on, anyway Markian Hawryluk and Renuka Rayasam | KFF Health News (TNS)Brooks Walsh hadn’t questioned whether “excited delirium syndrome” was a legitimate medical diagnosis before the high-profile police killings of Elijah McClain in Colorado in 2019 and George Floyd in Minnesota in 2020.The emergency physician in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was familiar with the term from treating patients who were so severely agitated and combative that they needed medication just to be evaluated. But it gave him pause when excited delirium — and not the restraint tactics used by arresting police officers — was mentioned as a possible factor in the deaths of those two Black men. That’s when Walsh took a closer look at the American College of Emergency Physicians’ 2009 position paper on excited delirium, which he and other physicians had relied on to treat such patients, then decided something needed to be done.“I was disappointed by a lot of stuff in that paper: the quality of the evidence that they cite and just...

A DeLorean with only 977 miles on it was unearthed in a Wisconsin barn By Leah Asmelash | CNN“Back to the Future” has been a family favorite film franchise for decades, so much so that the car used for the time machine can resell for up to six figures. Now, imagine finding that same model in the back of a Wisconsin barn, with original parts and less than 1,000 miles, partially sunk into the dirt like treasure. Great Scott! That’s exactly what happened to Michael McElhattan, who owns DeLorean Midwest, an auto restoration company in Illinois that specializes in DeLoreans, and his social media partner Kevin Thomas. The car featured in the “Back to the Future” franchise is a DeLorean DMC-12, manufactured for just three years from 1981-1983. With its gullwing doors and brushed stainless steel body, its spaceship-like appearance made the car ideal for the films, the directors have said.Thomas, left, and McElhattan, right, pose with the vehicle.(Mike McElhattan via CNN) Despite mechanical woes, the vehicles have since developed a cult following.
