In Broncos’ loss to Raiders, QB Russell Wilson showed improvement. Now it’s time to finish.

In Broncos’ loss to Raiders, QB Russell Wilson showed improvement. Now it’s time to finish. Quarterback Russell Wilson was in his bag.On the Broncos’ first offensive drive Sunday against the Raiders, he threw dimes, made plays out of the pocket and looked more like his Seattle days than the version from last season that had some wondering if he was near the end of his career.Wilson threw a 21-yard pass down the sideline to wide receiver Brandon Johnson. Later, he connected with tight ends Adam Trautman and Greg Dulcich for 10-plus-yard completions. But the true indicator that Wilson still had some dog left in him was on second-and-goal when he scrambled to the right and rocketed a pass to the back of the end zone to wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a 5-yard touchdown.Unfortunately for the Broncos, that was the high point for Wilson, as Denver failed to deliver down the stretch in a 17-16 loss to the Raiders. In Denver’s season opener at Empower Field at Mile High, Wilson completed 27 of 34 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns in an encouraging performance. But if th...

Opinion: Growing conflicts around bike lanes are a sign something isn’t working

Opinion: Growing conflicts around bike lanes are a sign something isn’t working Conflict is growing in Denver between drivers, cyclists, scooters, and pedestrians. We all see it on our daily commute — the pedestrian knocked aside by a fast bike on the sidewalk, a cyclist frightened when a car passes too close in a shared lane, and a driver irritated by a cyclist riding on a busy, fast street when a bike lane exists for them one block over. And everyone is scared of traffic fatalities. Odds are you have seen a horrific crash on one of your neighborhood streets. Denver’s roads are not safe. Between 2013 and 2022 about 680 people were killed in traffic crashes: 32 of those people were cyclists, 235 were pedestrians, 101 were in vehicles, and 111 on motorcycles. No matter our mode of transportation we can agree that something is broken.Speed, distracted driving, vehicle size, impaired driving, road rage, and sometimes just pure bad luck all contribute to keeping even Denver’s sleepiest side streets unsafe. The city’s rollout over the past five years o...

Biden bet on Tokayev

Biden bet on Tokayev Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev thanked US President Joe Biden for inviting him to the first summit of Central Asian and US leaders during a meeting in Astana with Gary Peters, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. The summit of Central Asian and US leaders will be held in the C5+1 format on the floor of the UN General Assembly in September this year.Interestingly, this proposal was made at the time of the BRICS Summit, where new members were admitted to the organisation, and Tokayev offered his ideas on developing cooperation on security and climate change.Obviously, the strengthening role of BRICS is of great concern to the United States and the collective West, which favours the development of bilateral relations, including with partners on the path of democratic reforms.Among the states that have made a leap in this direction is Kazakhstan under the leadership of Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. At the dawn of Kazakhstan's independence in 19...
